Holistic Yoga

Yoga therapy uses a combination of yoga practices to support in the healing of particular conditions. IT is much more specialized than yoga with all sessions tailored to a specific ailment or injury. Yoga therapy assists the systems of the body to function as efficiently and effectively as possible, aiding prevention of illnesses, alleviating symptoms of existing conditions and promoting the body's own natural healing process to restore health and well being where disease is already present.

 

Holistic Approach to Yoga

  • Building upon a wellness model that integrates mind and body.
  • Examining the role of Vedic and Tantric philosophies in Western Medicine.
  • Use of the technologies of therapeutic yoga and Ayurveda.
  • Integrating asana, pranayama, meditation, guided imagery, sound and prayer for holistic healing to achieve deep relaxation, restoration, physical and emotional wellbeing.

This Yoga Alliance-required course is 200 hours achieved through two modules, which are each 9 days of intensive training. It will cover all areas of anatomy, physiology, subtle anatomy, meditation, practice, physical adjustments, sequencing, nutrition, and marketing that are necessary to safely and effectively teach yoga to others.

Though we will thoroughly cover the "nuts and bolts" of the physical practice of Yoga-asana, we will also explore extensively the mental and philosophical aspects of the entire practice using traditional ashtanta 8 limbs of yoga and an eclectic selection of readings as our springboard for discussion.

 

Teacher training is not just for those looking to teach yoga as a career or side job. It is an incredibly valuable experience to those who are simply looking to add some deeper layers to their practice.

  • 200 hr Yoga Teachers Certification upon program completion.

The course takes a holistic approach to the understanding and practice of yoga, bringing out yoga's potential for the integrated development of the whole person. There will be particularly strong curriculum in yogic health, meditation practice, yoga ethics, yoga philosophy, spiritual community, subtle postures or asanas and spiritual-humanist social vision.

 

The curriculum integrates yoga teacher training, meditation training, and inner and outer ecology training.Follow-up support in the form of continuing education seminars and networking with training graduate community will be available.

All movements adhere to fundamental principles of tai chi: involving weight-bearing and non-weight-bearing stances, good body alignment and coordinated movements conducted in a continuous, circular and flowing motion. Movement coordinates with the inhale/exhale breathing cycle. Movements are taught in sets which can be performed separately and linked to form a sequential routine.

This program is 10 and 24-form version of Tai Chi studies have found can substantially decrease the risk of falls in older adults, improve balance and result in better health.

This form of qigong is the part of the system of Daoyin /Medical  Health Qigong Series. It is created by one of china’s most famous Qigong Master Professor Zhang Guang De.  This is an excellent form for promoting health, vitality, mindfulness, longevity and happiness.

 

This  form is demonstrated and instructed by Suman Barkhas who has studied this form in Mongolia and In China in 1990.
